- START EARLY. The best study abroad experience begins with good planning. To prepare for your study abroad experience, you may consider taking UTPB courses in preparation for your time abroad.
- Meet with the Study Abroad Advisor who will assist you in finding a program, ensuring it fits into your major.
- Research program options yourself, and find a program that meets your individual needs.
- Complete a study abroad registration form with the Study Abroad Advisor. You may do so even if you are not planning to apply the study abroad credit hours towards your UTPB degree. Participation in a Study Abroad program will entitle you to the *UT System S.O.S. services, which in many cases provides access to financial assistance programs.
- Work with the Study Abroad Advisor as well as your academic advisor/dean to ensure the study abroad credits will meet the requirements for your degree.
- Complete and return any additional applications/paperwork by the deadlines indicated in the guidelines of the program you have chosen.
- Register for Classes
- Prepare a budget for your study abroad experience and locate funding. Financial.
- Aid may be used in many cases, so visit the Financial Aid office to discuss your particular program needs. Visit Funding Sources on the UTPB website for helpful information.
- Complete all U.S. State Department passport and visa requirements as well as the requirements of your host country.
