Center Instructional Development Role and Scope (Mission) Statement
The Center for Instructional Development dedicates resources and programs to help the faculty of the University of Texas of the Permian Basin provide high quality instruction. The Center is committed to enhancing the excellent instructional reputation already earned by the University. Through coordinated educational activities, the Center strengthens the instruction provided by adjuncts, lecturers, teaching assistants and new and experienced professors. Although the Center is ready to help individual instructors who may be experiencing difficulty in courses, it is not involved formally or informally in providing evaluative information required for salaries, retention, or advancement. Center programs are intended for all teaching faculty concerned with quality, higher education at the University. The Center is a cooperative effort demonstrating administrative support, faculty involvement, and student interaction. Through various well-designed and researched activities, the Center will improve diverse instructional methodologies, coordinate use of modern technology, develop useful instructor/student feedback, increase student progress in courses, and help teachers successfully transmit their expertise in a culturally fair environment. Constant evaluation of the Center for Instructional Development will help it evolve into a valuable component of the University Community.
