The 24th Annual Texas Leadership Forum was held October 10 - 12, 2008 in Austin, Texas. The event was a great success, with over 100 attendees. Teams were formed to propose solution within the following policy topics (including legislative intent and funding):
1. Seeking and Funding Alternative Energy Sources
2. Water Conservation and Planning
3. Border Security / Immigration
4. Improving Access to Healthcare
5. Education - Addressing the High Dropout Rate in Texas
6. Transportation Construction and Upkeep
Team #3 proposed the winning solution, focusing on the State's ability to provide increased training and awareness of resources for border security.
Congratulations Team #3. The members of this team will have a resolution presented in their honor in the Texas House of Representatives at the 81st Legislative Session. The members will also have the opportunity to work with state legislators to work on their proposal as a foundation for future legislation.
